Building or Off-Ramp?

22 Feb

What happens when a building and off ramp are designed to take up the same space?

Gate Tower Building

Have the off ramp go through the building of course. That is what happened in Osaka, Japan with the Gate Tower Building. In Japan they were not able to just take the land and the owner didn’t want to sell so they worked on a compromise. In the end the building has a hole in it where the exit ramp runs through. Nothing too out of the ordinary for those of us at IIT but the Japanese managed it years ahead of MTCC.
